Epcot’s San Angel Inn

I prefer the San Angel Inn to all the World Showcase restaurants. To start with, the atmosphere is, for my money, the best in all of Walt Disney World. A river holds boats full of tourists lazily drifting past the diners. In the backround, there is a smoking volcano and a replica of the mayan pyramid you are sitting in placed in an ancient jungle. It is perhaps the most romantic setting at the “World.” Truth be told, it is very dark but that just adds to the setting of a quiet Mexican plaza at night. The only complaint that I could think of is that the fit can be tight with little room between tables.

As for the food, it is not your typical Mexican fare. No Taco Bell here. I had the pollo a las rajas which was terrific. The chicken over a bed of onions, peppers and cheese was very tasty and unique. I have had the mole poblano in the past and enjoyed it. It is a chicken dish made with, among other things, native peppers and chochlate.

So next time your in the World Showcase, make sure you check out the San Angel Inn. And don’t forget the margaritas. The real ones, not that frozen nonsense.

    Thanks again Mike.

The San Angel is a marvel for sure. I had the chicken in a mole sauce, and it was very tasty. We needed a flashlight to see what it looked like, but what does that matter anyway?
