Chef Mickey’s

One topic that often comes up when planning a Disney vacation: character meals. Disney offers up plenty of options, many of which are the popular character breakfasts. There are many to choose from so its important to choose wisely. I like Chef Mickey’s at the Contemporary best of all. To start with, the Contemporary is conveinent. You can just jump on the monorail and you’re at Main Street USA. Plus, kids have fun watching the monorail zip by overhead while you’re eating.

The venue is also ideal for character breakfasts. Its wide open so you can easily watch the various characters interact with other tables which is untrue in other places like the Garden Grill. Plus, there seem to be more characters at this spot than at other similar restaurants. For example, at the Cape May Cafe, you can see Goofy, Minnie, Chip and Dale. At Chef Mickey’s, you have all the biggies- Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Donald, Chip and Dale. More characters equal more encounters. So, unless you’re looking for a specific character- like Pooh and Friends at the Crystal Palace, princesses in Norway at Epcot, or Lilo & Stitch at ‘ohana- the best group is at Chef Mickey’s. Finally, the characters every so often start a song which includes napkin waving and dancing which the kids, at least mine, loved.

Contemporary Resort

The food is no different at any of these places really. Eggs, home fries, french toast, and the obligatory Mickey shaped waffles. So, the food is not the attraction but its not bad either. You go to Chef Mickey’s at breakfast for the characters and the convenience of the Contemporary.

Sorry I had no photos of CM’s. When I go back later this year I’ll do my best

Chef Mickeys is fun (what’s better than eggs, Mickey and the monorail?) and I’ve enjoyed it. I prefer the food selection for breakfast at 1900 Park Fare but would rank Chef Mickeys in my Top 3 or so character meals.

I have not done 1900 Park Fare, but it is on my list.

CM’s seems to be the most fun of them all.

Thanks Matt. I love the experience at Chef Mickey’s myself but many of the breakfasts are good. I would not recommend the Garden Grille at the Land.
