Help the Disney World Trivia Dream Team

by Dave

The “unofficial” Disney community, those who make up all the great podcasts, websites, and forums, is filled with terrific people.  Many people devote hours of their spare time to bring a bit of the Mouse to all of us addicts, and often at their own expense.  One of the most interesting of those people is Lou Mongello, someone I’ve talked about on this site many times.

Mr. Mongello has a terrific resume for Disney fans.  He is the author of the incredibly readable Disney World Trivia books and the host of WDW Radio, which is among the best Disney podcasts available.  But what I want to talk about today is another creation of his called “DisneyWorldTrivia.com Dream Team”.  It is a charity that he has put together to send kids with cancer to Walt Disney World.  Here is what he says…

Rather than donate money to cancer research, I wanted to help a sick child and their family now, when they may need it most. Although cancer research is in serious need of funding and donations, I wanted to make a difference for a child today. A child and their family who may be suffering physically, emotionally and spiritually, are also often struggling financially to pay for hospital bills and other medical expenses.

Lou is allocating portions of the proceeds from his books and related merchandise to the cause, as well as taking donations.  If you don’t have the books, buy them through his site and help these kids.  I’d like to applaud Lou for all his work, but he gets a standing ovation for this one.  Also, during the Magic Meets Disney fans gathering in Harrisburg, PA in July of this year, he will be holding an auction to benefit the Dream Team.  That sounds like a great way to get some Mouse stuff and help kids as well.

I participated in the auction last year and it was a great event and for a great cause. With that said…. “Oh, Lou! Lou is so great! OMG, LOU!”

    Seriously, help the cause.

As I was writing this, I thought to myself…Matt’s gonna love this. And lo and behold, we get “Lou, oh Lou” reference I was expecting.

I had all intentions of going to Magic Meets, and got shut out. Didn’t act fast enough.

I would like to congratulate Lou as well. An excellent idea and worthy cause. Good luck to him
