Holiday Bears returning?

A very persistent rumor I am hearing now is that the Christmas version of the Country Bear Jamboree will be returning to the Magic Kingdom this holiday season after last year’s hiatus.  The Christmas show never appeared in 2006, likely for budgetary reasons.  It appears it will make a comeback, though this is not yet confirmed.

By this time last year we were already hearing the drumbeat of rumors saying the holiday show would not take place.  The fact that this rumor is occurring now, and not one that confirms another cancellation, seems to lend some credence to it.  Even though this is not confirmed, I have heard an announcement on this should be coming soon.  Don’t book your trip yet based on this however.  We all know how the bean counters can pull the rug out from under a good idea.

Actually, the reason why the Bears didn’t do their holiday show last year was because of copyright issues with the song “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer”.

    And that has been solved?

There’s a copyright for that song?

Yes, it’s copyrighted. (Great podcast by the way…)

There’s rumors on discussion boards that the copyright was the reason for the cancelation last year, but nothing has ever been confirmed. I’ve also never seen anything as to why the copyright was a problem last year but not before, but I may have just missed that. But again, it’s just rumor.

There’s also rumors that it had nothing at all to do with the copyright.

Then there’s the rumor that the copyright was the reason last year, and even though the issue has been resolved, the overlay still won’t happen this year because not enough guests complained last year.

So in the end, I guess we’re left where we usually are left… wait and see.

Whatever happened to that so-called “announcement” was going to be made?
