A review of Hollywood and Vine at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Located next door to the 50s Prime Time Cafe (in fact, they share bathrooms) is the Hollywood & Vine buffet restaurant. The design of the place is that of a 50s diner. A CM with one of those old-fashioned paper hats, checks you in out front. Then, you must wait to be called and there can often be a significant wait even if you have a reservation.
The food is spotty. For example, the buffet often has a chicken and pineapple dish that is pretty good. Yet, the mashed potatoes were poor. The salmon was not well received either. There is a carving station as well as pastas and salads. Generally speaking, its fine but far from spectacular. The dessert selection, however, is quite good. The cobblers, blueberry and apple for our meal were very tasty. There is also chicken fingers and mac&cheese at the kids’ area.
At $24.99 a person, the Hollywood & Vine isn’t a bad deal. The H&V is also the cheapest option for the Fantasmic Dinner Package. If you do decide to do the dinner package, this is your best option. I am not a big fan of Mama Melrose’s, and the Brown Derby, already an expensive option, is much more so when you use the Fantasmic Package. Plus, the dinner package at this place is the same as those for other dinners, $24.99 per person.
You should also be aware that there is character breakfasts and lunches here. However, don’t expect Mickey Mouse or Mary Poppins. At the Hollywood & Vine, you get characters from JoJo’s Circus and the Little Einsteins. There are no characters at dinner, however.

when we ate there in Jan 2007 it was strictly for the fantasmic option. we thought the food was OK as well - with some selections being on our second helping list but others left us wondering who trained the cooks. we thought it was because we had to eat at 3:30pm (only slots left) but I guess we were correct in our original assumptions.
