Disney World announces plans for Four Seasons resort

A long awaited announcement has now come and gone without much fanfare. Disney has announced a deal with the Four Seasons hotel company to sell 298 acres of Disney World. The land will be home to a luxury hotel, vacation homes, time-share housing (through the Four Seasons not the DVC) and a major 18-hole golf course. Disney had previously announced the plans for a Four Seasons Hotel but now we know more details including the actual acres given up by Disney.  Here is the Orlando Sentinel article.

Disney has over the last few years become less Disney with these type of decisions. First, restaurants were sold to third parties and now we have major chunks of property exchanging hands. And for what? a golf course and another luxury hotel. Been there and done that. What ever happened to fun new ideas coming from Disney? What ever happened to Disney themed hotels? To me, the Swan and Dolphin seem out of place and I hold no delusions that the Four Seasons Hotel won’t feel the same. At least, its tucked out of the way in the Northeast corner of the resort.
