Are Speilberg and Disney ready to bring Roger Rabbit back?

The Disney Gossip bog has an interesting rumor this morning that may have some Disney Studios fans salivating for more information.  According to the report, one favorite and long missing rabbit could be making a triumphant return to the silver screen.

…I just heard from a source that Gary Wolf has been working on a new Roger Rabbit story. It’s likely a prequel, despite the fact that a sequel is already written. My source says that pre-production for the film is actually pretty far along. If so, that would be great news.

I don’t have a whole lot to say here.  Honestly, I have never been a big fan of Roger Rabbit.  This one is up to you.  Are you excited about this?  Are you someone who feels Disney has long been ignoring one of their best characters?  Tell us what you think…

Will the Adventurer’s Club rise again?

Most of the bad buzz, so to speak, surrounding the Disney online community over the last few weeks has centered on the closing of Pleasure Island, and particularly the Adventurer’s Club.  It is certainly sad to see this Disney original close its doors, but according the Lou Mongello at the WDW Radio Podcast it may not be gone for long.  Here is what Mr. Mongello reported this week…

The Adventurer’s Club, sadly, is dead.  But I believe it will rise again, like the phoenix, with a different name, a different storyline, and a different time period.  It may even have a food element, thankfully, attached to it.  Stay tuned because I think we are going to hear more about the Adventurer’s Club sooner rather than later.

Hmmm, this sounds somewhat familiar.  Only a few weeks ago, I made this suggestion here on Mouse Extra…

The fact is, and this is what is so upsetting, the Adventurer’s Club does not have to close in order to re-invent Pleasure Island.  If we are going to fill the Island with family-friendly, well themed restaurants, why can’t the Adventurer’s Club fit in?  Sure, it will take some retooling but so what?  Make it a restaurant, add some more seating, there you have it.

So needless to say I think this rumor is a good idea and I hope that it comes true.  The Adventurer’s Club was a good idea, but one that I felt had room for improvement.  With some help, it can fit in perfectly to the new plans.  We’ll keep our eyes and ears open for more news as the weeks go by.

I for one am excited about the idea of a land of themed restaurants free of an over-priced cover charge.  I had not paid to get into Pleasure Island in a very long time and didn’t like that it stood in between the free areas of the Marketplace and West Side.  A seamless transition throughout the Pleasure Island complex is a great idea.  Let’s see if it works.

Walt Disney World celebrates 37th birthday

It is October 1, and we all know what that means.  37 years ago today Walt Disney World opened its doors, as guests made there way for the first time down Main Street, USA in Florida.

After a long and extremely covert operation, Disney managed to purchase more land than most towns, survive the death of its inspirational creator, and turn basically an uninhabited swamp into the world’s most recognizable tourist destination.  Pretty impressive if you ask me.

Exactly 11 years later, in 1982, my single favorite theme park in the world opened, Epcot Center.  It took a little while for it to grow on me, and when I was a kid in 1982 it bored me to tears.  But now, I never want to leave.  Happy Birthday WDW!
