Finally……Phineas & Ferb at WDW

After much clamoring for the duo, Stitch Kingdom has reported that Phineas & Ferb will have a meet and greet area at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The pair will greet guests near MuppetVision’s exit. According to the report, the two will actually be involved in a meet & play for a more interactive experience.

I love love love this show. And I am not alone. It seems to me there should have been a Phineas & Ferb meet-n-greet a year ago. I hope this is just the beginning. A dark ride at the Studios would be great. So would a character meal at the Hollywood & Vine. Heck, maybe P & F replace Aerosmith at the Rock N Roller Coaster. And a Perry the Platypus meet-n-greet is a must.

For the time being, we have to be content with this. The meet and play does sound interesting. The guests will help the duo make a movie. It is set to start this May.

Star Tours Cast of Characters

The Disney Blog has announced some additional star wars characters you can expect to see when Star Tours reopens in May. They have already announced two new characters, the droids Ace (pictured below) and Aly San San. Now we know some classic characters will appear in the attraction.

Yoda, Princess Leia, Chewbacca, Boba Fett, and a personal favorite, Admiral Ackbar will appear. And, of course, Darth Vader will make his presence known. He will be joined by Skytroopers, which have been created specifically for the attraction. Can you say merchandising?

Star Tours 2 This May

Disney has announced the official opening date at Walt Disney World for Star Tours the Adventure Continues, or as I refer to it as Star Tours 2. The attraction is re-opening on May 20th. Disney has not announced when the California version will reopen.

This date should come as no surprise. Late May is typically when the wildly popular Star Wars Weekends occur and it would make zero sense not to have the attraction up and running by then. Or perhaps, even premiere then. Considering that May 20th is a friday, that could very well be the first Star Wars weekends event.

Its Official: Playhouse Disney No More

According to the Disney Parks Blog, Disney is replacing Playhouse Disney with a show based on programming from the new disney channel geared toward young children- Disney Junior. The theater will be closed starting in late January and will reopen on March 5th.

The show will be called “Disney Junior- Live on Stage.” Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Handy Manny and the Little Einsteins will still be part of the show. It appears, however, that the Pooh segment is out. Thats probably due to the fact that the cartoon is now defunct.

In its place, there will be a segment featuring a new Disney cartoon, Jake and the Neverland Pirates. The show follows Jake and his merry band of pirates on various adventures geared toward promoting interaction with youngsters. I imagine it will be similiar to Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Little Einsteins.

As for the attraction, it looks like it will be the same kind of show. Puppets being the order of the day here. It will likely remain an attraction for the 6 and younger set.

Some details to Star Tours 2.0

Some details are leaking out as to the new Star Tours ride. The information stems from the Disneyland version of the attraction. However, it seems likely that the Disney Hollywood Studios version will be identical.

Gone is Rex. Instead, the pilot will be Ace with another droid (similar to the one in Attack of Clones) voiced by actress Alison Janney. Her droid is called Aly San San and looks like the waitress droid in the second film of the prequels. One droid courtesy of Disney

Most importantly, perhaps, is the detail that there will be 54 different versions of the ride. This means that there will be a few different clips that once mixed up will create 54 different experiences. I imagine that each time you ride the attraction there will be a decent chance of seeing at least one scene from your previous experience. But this still does add to the enjoyment of the sequence.

The End of Star Tours Announced

So we finally have a date for the end of one of my favorite rides at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and the beginning of one of the most anticipated refurbishments in Disney Park history. According to the Daily Disney blog from the Orlando Sentinel, that date is August 14th

Disney has announced a hard ticket event for the Studios called the Last Tour to Endor. The event coincides with a Star Wars event, the Star Wars Celebration convention happening in Orlando. So you can expect lots of people dressed up in all sorts of costumes.

You should probably also expect the attraction to reopen in time for the next year’s Star Wars weekends. At least, that would be my best guess. But if you have fond memories of the Captain Rex then get your tickets. Information on the event can be found here. Or just make sure you book a trip by the middle of August.
