Seven Wonders of Disney World; Illuminations: Reflections of Earth

As night falls on the World Showcase Lagoon, you are hopefully filled with the good food and drink while strolling past the wonderful sights and smells.  It’s been a long day at this amazing park, and your feet are killing you.  But don’t go to the parking lot just yet.  Before you make your way to the tram or the buses, find a good spot near the lagoon.  Epcot’s final wonder is about the explode above you. Seven Wonders of Disney World; Epcot’s Spaceship Earth

When I first heard Lou and Nathan on the Mousetunes Podcast offer up the idea for the Seven Wonders of Walt Disney World the first thing to pop into my head was Spaceship Earth.   As I sat down to define what “wonder” should mean for these purposes I thought of Spaceship Earth.  On every list I made while formulating my ideas, Spaceship Earth was always the first.   It is without doubt the most “grand and miraculous” of wonders. Seven Wonders of Disney World; Expedition Everest

As you approach the Animal Kingdom, the Forbidden Mountain looms in the distance, a perfect fit of color and texture.  Its snow-capped peak seems to somehow belong among the lush green and flat Florida horizon.  Even inside the park, the mountain belongs from every angle, but as you approach Asia, the park transforms into a marvel of earth tones and immerses you into the story. Seven Wonders of Disney World; The World Showcase

For those who have never been to Walt Disney World, the impressions of what is there are generally misguided.   For many, they believe it is a glorified Disneyland, full of low-speed robot rides, campy parades, and people sweating inside mouse costumes.  Until they arrive, this is what many think, and I know people who have.   All of this comes to an abrupt and delightful end upon entering Epcot’s World Showcase.
